I am the 2%
Appropriate that the Capitals decided to wear their “old school” jerseys (from the NHL Winter Classic on New Year’s Day) tonight against the Canadiens. It serves as a reminder to ME, that I’ll be @ Verizon Center this Sunday to see a repeat performance by the Caps on the Penguins.
Oh, the T-shirt? BEST $55 ever spent!!! (Hat: $30; T-shirt: $25) I’ll have to remind myself to pull this sucker out SHOULD the Caps make it to the Stanley Cup finals.
God, that looks SO good on my ass…LMFAO
And by “train wreck”, I’m referring to the Justice Department signing off on the takeover of NBC Universal by Comcast. Anybody who thinks MSNBC (let alone NBC News) won’t exist in its present form as a result of this, is a fucking idiot. Here’s what you should know:
Brian Roberts, the CEO of Comcast, contributed heavily to Georgie Bush Junior’s re-election campaign in ’04. Right there is the proof you need, to see why Olbermann bailed out on America tonight. Perhaps he realized the new regime coming in to run the news division has already decided he doesn’t fit the “new” MSNBC.
The end of journalism in this country as we’ve come to know it, just had its opening salvo fired tonight. Watch and see…
They’re playing the Eagles-Vikings game as I write this. So with that in mind, perhaps this blog entry (courtesy of Garcia Media Life) should serve as a reminder that football is SUPPOSED to be a “manly” sport.
God, I hope they don’t call off the Caps-Pens game Saturday afternoon. Rain AND upper-50s temperature in Pittsburgh? NO, NO, NO, NO…
As Tom Hanks famously stated in the movie, “A League of Their Own,” there’s “no crying in baseball.” And there’s no cancelling an NFL football game because of bad weather. It’s blasphemy. It’s un-American. We, as a nation, have changed forever. Reacting to the rescheduling of the Sunday night Vikings-Eagles m … Read More
In all the years of following the Redskins–and for me, it goes back to 1967 (when I was 9)–I always believed this franchise to be storied and respected.
Today, I’m ashamed to call myself a Redskins fan.
I’ve written here about it earlier today…Radio Free Ashburn…but I can go into greater (and more profane) detail here.
By now the sports world knows about how Donovan McNabb had his dignity and character stripped away from him courtesy of Mike Shanahan. In plain English, a backup this Sunday…and HOLDING A FUCKING CLIPBOARD the remaining 2 games. I can’t even make this funny…
But I now understand what L.A. Clippers fans have had to endure from the fucked-up ownership of Donald Sterling…what it’s like to watch Wayne Huizenga destroy the Dolphins the way he destroyed the Marlins…and CERTAINLY how Orioles fans have felt since the racketerring troll, Peter Angelos has destoyed THAT once-proud franchise. Because today, the belief I’ve held for quite some time that Dan Snyder has placed a PERMANENT curse of the Washington Redskins has become fact.
I’d love to go on with this blog, but I can’t. There’s just so many emotions flowing through my mind…and NONE of them are happy, either!!
God, I want to crawl in a hole and puke right now.
Wow, it’s REALLY been 25 years since the SMU football debacle? Holy shit…lol
With that in mind–and coming as it does the night before Cam Newton’s “coronation”/Heisman acceptance speech–I present this reblogging of The ACC Report’s take on the parallels between the SMU case and Auburn’s coverup (??) of Cam Newton’s “hired gun” act.
Anyway, it’s a good read.
When ESPN announced a year ago they would air their final 30 for 30 on the rise and detonation of SMU Football in the 80s, who could have predicted how symbolic the timing would be. The Pony Express examines the SMU cheating scandal and the NCAA decision to use the nuclear option for the first and only time in its history. The irnony is that the The Pony Express follows the 2010 Heisman trophy presentation where Cam Newton will be named the bes … Read More

I reblog out of LOVE, folks. Sometimes I find blogs that make me want to SHARE them with the world.
This is ONE of them.
On this, the 30th anniversary of John Lennon’s death, I invite you all to read this blog (courtesy of Playtonic Dialogues) which tries to explain why–40 years after the breakup–Beatlemania AIN’T dead.
Pay attention, people.
By Michael Sokil Nitsuh Abebe's article "How To Hate The Beatles" is a crime against reason, good taste and the considered opinion of mankind. If I were merely a layperson – a casual Beatles fan peripherally conversant in their work – I would find the piece stunningly provocative. However, as the world's preeminent Beatles fan, peerless in my knowledge of Beatles ephemera, I find Abebe's piece simply abominable. After due deliberation, here is m … Read More
Just when I begin to think I’m the ONLY voice screaming against the hypocrisy of our society in America…I find someone ELSE who can explain things BETTER than I ever could.
If you can get past the “wonk-ese” language of this guy and some of his commenters, there ARE points to be made as to the whole WikiLeaks brouhaha. Take time to read MY comment comparing Julian Assange to Daniel Ellsberg. (Believe me, they’re connected…more than ANY of you will ever know. I’m old enough to actually REMEMBER the Pentagon papers case…)
Anyway, have fun reading this blog.
There's a lot of thoughtful discussion going on about Julian Assange and WikiLeaks in light of the publication of the 250,000 cables between the US and other foreign governments. Some of the best I've read comes from Clay Shirky ("WikiLeaks and the Long Haul"), Jeff Jarvis ("WikiLeaks: Power Shifts From Secrecy to Transparency") Evan Hansen ("Why WikiLeaks is Good for America") and Ethan Zuckerman ("Why Amazon Caved, and What it Means for the Re … Read More
This years edition of “Fox News says there is a WAR on Christmas”. (via Sh*t Superman would say…if he was a political pundit.)
EVERY fucking December, we go through this bullshit. Yeah, kiddies, that’s right…Bill O’Reilly’s annual bug up his ass about the so-called “war” on Christmas.
Who gives a flying fuck in hell whether you wish someone “Merry Christmas” or “Happy Holidays”, really? What we SHOULD be up in arms about is this made-up holiday black people call Kwanzaa. You know WHY they celebrate Kwanzaa, don’t you?
Because blacks think Christmas is the WHITE MAN’S holiday. That’s why.
Anyway, read this blog…and make up your OWN fucking mind.
Look I get as angry as the next white male christian when someone smugly tells me "Happy Holidays". (This happens a lot in no on goes to church Seattle) But that does not mean there is a concerted effort to end Christmas. John Stewart(a jew) take it away……. Here. … Read More
